Every Monday evening Mark Smith trains with his local State Emergency Services unit in Wagga Wagga.
He witnessed two floods last year and feels that with his new skills he’ll be able to help out if it ever happens again.
After less than a year in the unit Mark has decided that he’s in it for the long haul and hopes to become an officer one day.
Mark shared his story for the ABC Open Aftermath project: http://open.abc.net.au/projects/aftermath-08vh8ac
