On Tuesday 5 April, up to 100 young people from across the Riverina took part in the Get Ready forum, and the regional launch for Youth Week in NSW 2016.
The forum was held at Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga) and was an opportunity for young people to participate in disaster preparedness workshops following the 5 key Get Ready messages for emergency planning; and contribute to emergency planning in the Riverina.
During the event they participated in demonstrations and activities with NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and State Emergency Service (SES). Students were able to challenge themselves through the SES portable urban search and rescue tunnel and learn about the flood boat used for rescues; and get up close to the trucks, motor bikes and other specialised RFS equipment.
